Successful Workshop on Microfluidics

april 14, 2025

Looking back on a great workshop focused on microfluidics co-organized by the LUMC hiPSC & OoC Centre & Fluigent on the 9th of April!

Following an introduction to Fluigent’s microfluidic technologies systems by Jad El Khoury and Fluigent’s new automated organ-on-chip platform system Omi by application scientist Anel Rakhmatullina, there were guest lectures by Dr. Delannoy about the development of a human gut-on-chip model to study microbiome interactions and Dr. Orlova on 3D vessel-on-chip models.

During the afternoon, it was time to get some hands-on experience! The participants learned how to set up recirculation systems using pressure-based flow control by FlowEZ and were introduced to Fluigent’s newest system, the Omi automated organ-on-chip platform. In addition, they visualized various cell types cultured within the Omi system, including HUVECs and iPS-derived cells. The day finished with networking drinks and the opportunity to ask the experts more questions.

Thank you to our co-organizers and trainers during the day: Anel Rakhmatullina and Jad El Khoury (Fluigent), Dhanesh Kasi (LUMC) and to our funders & networks: the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), hDMT INFRA and LymphChip.
