Successful Workshop on Maskless Photolithography & Nano-Indentation

maart 4, 2025

On March 4th, the LUMC OoC Centre, Alvéole and Optics11 Life together organized a workshop focused on maskless photolithography and nano-indentation techniques.

The day started with an introduction to the techniques and how to apply them to a range of research questions by experts from both companies and the LUMC. Following the introduction, the participants were divided into small groups to apply what they had learned directly: each group developed their own mini-research plan, learning how to work with the software packages necessary to develop a pattern for the hands-on sessions.

After lunch, the participants had the opportunity to work with the Pavone nano-indentation system (Optics11 Life) and Primo (Alvéole) to get hands-on experience with both systems. Guided by the expert trainers, they learned how to set up the systems, tweak designs based on initial results, and run their experiments. Of course, we finished the programme with some networking drinks to share experiences and insights!

A huge thank you to our co-organizers and trainers during the day: Shubham Sahu and Alexane Caignard (Alvéole), Massimiliano Berardi and Malin Becker (Optics11 Life), and Dhanesh Kasi and Maury Wiendels (LUMC), as well as to our funding networks: the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW), hDMT INFRA and LymphChip.

Flow conditions and a stable well-defined flow direction are important to culture in vivo-like endothelial cells over time that maintain their organization and function. With help of Dhanesh Khasi, Hanna Lammertse and Valeria Orlova, an application note was put together by Fluigent describing the proper conditions for hiPSCs-derived vascular organ-on-chip model under unidirectional controlled flow: https://www.fluigent.com/resources-support/expertise/application-notes/hipscs-derived-vascular-organ-on-chip
Strategic Workshops Catalyze
januari 20, 2026
As part of our aim to identify opportunities for valorization, Catalyze gave two Strategic Workshops on January 20. The first workshop was aimed at LymphChip PIs and their senior colleagues and concentrated on the first steps to translate a (scientific) innovation/tool into a marketable product. In the second workshop options for future funding for LymphChip […]
